Anglachel
Sword of the First Age that was made of iron. Anglachel was created by Eol and was wielded by Beleg and Turin. It could cut through other iron and possibly rock. Anglachel was given to Thingol by Eol so he could live in Nan Elmoth. Beleg later came to Thingol to ask for a sword, for he sought Turin. Thingol granted him Anglachel, and he and his wife Melian warned him of its proper use and dangers. They claimed it may not do him well, and it may betray him. Sure enough it did, for Turin and Beleg were betrayed by Mim, who sent spies to capture Turin. Anglachel was used to cut Turin free, but he was deceived and slew Beleg using Anglachel. In 490, Turin brought Anglachel to Nargothrond where it was sharpened and renamed Gurthang. 9 years later, Anglachel, by this time Gurthang, was used to kill the great dragon Glaurung. It was soon used by Turin to kill himself after he realized his wife, who was also his sister, committed suicide. Anglachel was buried with Turin and the two rested in peace.
