Barrow-wights
Barrow-wight by John Howe
Ghost-like beings inhabiting the Barrow-Downs. The Barrow-wights were creatures of Angmar and Rhudaur who were sent by the Witch-King to the Barrow-downs. They haunted the area for hundreds of years, scaring travelers and passer-byers. On September 23, 3018, The Witch-King woke the Barrow-wights and warned them that the Ring would soon be carried through. Frodo Baggins, Sam Gamgee, Pippin Took, and Merry Brandybuck walked through on the 28th. They were captured by the Barrow-wights, then freed by Tom Bombadil.
