Glamdring
Glamdring in the New Line film
Great sword of the First Age which survived the Fall of Gondolin. It was found in the Trollshaws by Gandalf in 2941 of the Third Age. He wielded it through many battles. Elrond identified the sword and recognized that it glowed with blue light when orcs were near, rather like Sting. In the Misty Mountains, Gandalf saved Thorin Oakenshield and Company using Glamdring. The Company had been captured by Goblins. He later used it during the Battle of Five Armies. Later, in 3019, Gandalf fought the Balrog in Moria with the Fellowship of the Ring. He and the Balrog fell, fighting in air. Glamdring eventually stabbed the Balrog and he was killed. Two months later, Gandalf returned to Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli wielding Glamdring. He fought many enemies with his sword. He eventually went to the West, probably bringing Glamdroing with him.
