Elven-rope made of Hithlain in the New Line film
Hithlain was a soft good used to make Elven-rope. Elven-rope was very strong and travelled well, and could support a great deal of weight. It glowed in the darkness. On February 16, 3019, The Fellowship of the Ring left Lothlorien. As one of her many parting gifts, Galadriel gave them Elven-rope made of Hithlain. It was extremely long. Each strand was over 112 feet. When the Fellowship was broken, Frodo and Sam took the Elven-rope. They used it in the Emyn Muil to get up and down steep hills. When they found Gollum, they tied the Elven-rope around his neck. After hours of begging, they finally removed the rope from his neck.
