Huorns
Huorn in the New Line film
Angry trees. Huorns were trees that moved but could not walk like Ents. They lived in Fangorn and in the Old Forest. They were large and burly and had twisted roots. Huorns could communicate only by speaking softly to Ents. Their voices sounded like nonsense to men and Dwarves. But it is thought that Elves originally taught them to speak. Huorns mainly guarded the forest of Fangorn. When Orcs passed through, cutting as they went, Huorns grew angry and killed the intruders. In Peter Jackson's film version of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Merry and Pippin were nearly eaten by a Huorn in Fangorn who mistakenly thought they were Orcs. At the Battle for Helm's Deep, Huorns were sent by Trrebeard to kill the last army of evil orcs who were attacking Rohan for Saruman.
