Ithil-stone
Decipher Card of the Ithil-Stone
Palantir of Isildur in Minas Ithil. Anarion used the Anor-stone in Minas Tirith, and the two often communicated. It was in 2002 that the Witch-King conquered Minas Ithil. His orcs collected all items of value including the Ithil-stone and brought them to Sauron. Minas Ithil was renamed Minas Morgul. The Ithil-stone was not heard of for hundreds of years, for it did not have the ability to contact other palantiri during the early parts of the Third Age. But during the War of the Ring, Sauron sent Denethor's palantir, the Anor-Stone, pictures of orcs killing his soldiers and pictures of large, evil armies. Saruman he seduced into becoming a traitor and through the palantir of Orthanc Sauron was able to figure out, with the help of Saruman, where to strike his enemies. When the palantir of Orthanc came into the hands of the good, Pippin Took looked into it. Sauron nearly drove him mad and his evil and cruelty wounded Pippin's mind for a while. Aragorn later used the stone to see Sauron, and he told him that he was the heir of Numenor and that he should be feared. Sauron grew fearful and attacked Gondor rapidly. He failed and eventually his empire fell and all of his possessions were burned in the fires of Mount Doom.
