Thain
Leader of the Shire. The First Thain was Bucca Oldbuck of the Marish. He passed the title down to the Took family, who treasured it much. They were the leaders of the Hobbits armies, the Hobbitry-in-Arms, which barely ever used. Thain Paladin II did use his Hobbitry-in-Arms during the War of the Ring to rebel the Ruffians. The rebellion erupted in the Battle of Bywater, which ended with the Ruffians loosing and exiting the Shire. Peregrin Took then became Thain and was also a Counsellor of the North-Kingdom.
