Thingol
Thingol was a great King of Doriath and the greatest of the lords of Sindar. He was born in Cuiviénen. Thingol met Melion in his return journey from Valinor with Finwe and Ingwe. He fell in love with her, and they were wed. Thingol and Melian dwelt in Beleriand together as many Elves passed over the Great Sea to the Undying Lands. The couple founded Doriath and raised many Elves there. In his days, Thingol was kind and generous and only made enemies with the evil lord Morgoth. But as other Elves rose to power, Thingol became arrogent and cruel. He refused to give lands to the Noldor, and when they apposed him he banned their language from Beleriand and crowned himself King of all Elves. By the end of he Third Age, about three people remembered any Noldor. It was said Thingol was the cause of the kinslayings. He made enemies with the Sons of Feanor as well. He and his wife gave birth to Luthien, a beautiful Elf maiden. many men and elves wanted to marry her. Beren especially did, but Thingol told him if he married Luthien, he would have to get him a Silmaril from Morgoth's Iron Crown. Beren did son, and Luthien became his bride. But dwarves also wanted the Silmaril, and they came to Doriath. Thingol welcomed them, then began bragging about his Silmaril. Thinking it would be good riddance for the Noldor and the Elves of Doriath, the Dwarves killed Thingol and took his Silmaril.
