Thorondor
The greatest of all birds ever. Thorondor had incredibly long wings and a solid golden beak. Thorondor migrated from Valinor to Middle-Earth in year 1 of the First Age. He helped Fingon rescue Maedhros from the prison of Thangorodrim in year five. It was sometime after this that Thorondor built his fortress for Eagles in the outskirts of Gondolin. Here, under the service of King Turgon, the Eagles guarded the city and frightened away any spies of the enemy Morgoth. In the Battle of Sudden Flame, Thorondor scared Morgoth and buried Fingolfin near Gondolin. Thorondor also fought in the War of Wrath. He Attacked many dragons and his birds won. Morgoth was soon defeated by the valar. It can be supposed Thorondor died by the end of the First Age. But this is not certain.
