Vorondil
Steward of Gondor. Vorondil was born in year 1919 of the Third Age. He was the son of Steward Pelendur.
Vorondil was a skilled hunter. He traveled eastward to the Sea of Rhun and slew a Kine of Araw, taking its horn back to Gondor as a monument of his success. It became the Great Horn and was borne by many Stewards of Gondor for thousands of years until it was split in two after the death of Boromir, the horn's last bearer.
Pelendur died in 1998 and Vorondil succeeded him as Steward to King Earnil II. Vorondil was the last non-ruling Steward for many years, for the line of kings ended with King Earnur in 2050. Vorondil died in 2029 and was succeeded by his son Mardil as Steward.
