White Council
Series of gatherings of Elves and Wizards. These wise beings met and discussed important matters, such as the rising power of Sauron. The members were Elrond, Galadriel, Gandalf, Saruman, and Cirdan. There was one meeting in the Second Age (without the wizards Gandalf and Saruman) where Elrond was given the Ring Vilya. In 1100 of the Third Age, It met again, this time with the wizards. They discussed for days the matters of Sauron and his evil presence in Dol Guldur in the forest of Mirkwood. In 2063, Gandalf went to Dol Guldur to find out who was there, but Sauron hid and was not seen for 400 years. In 2463, The White Council met yet again to elect a leader for the council. Everybody voted for Gandalf, but he rejected the offer and Saruman was named leader. In 2850, Gandalf discovered that Sauron was living in Dol Guldur. Saruman thought that the Ring of Power was near, and he wanted it for himself. He lied to the Council, telling them that Ring was in the Great Sea. In 2941, the Council decided to declare War upon Sauron, but he hid in Mordor. Saruman joined with him during the War of the Ring, and was removed from the Council. All in the Council but Saruman left Middle-Earth after the War.
