Amarië
Lover of Finrod. Amarie was a beautiful Vanyarin Elf who lived in Valinor. Amarie's beloved Finrod was the son of the High King Finarfin of the Noldor. Amarie and Finrod were lovers when he lived in Valinor during the Years of the Trees. Amarie and Finrod were never known to marry.
Finrod was among the Noldorin Elves to forsake the Valar and journey east to Middle-Earth across the Sea, and Amarie was not because she was not permitted to take such a journey. However, Finrod and Amarie would not live apart forever, for during the Quest of the Silmaril Finrod was killed at the hand of Sauron, his spirit being sent back to Valinor where it would regain its bodily form and reside with Amarie again.
Notice: In earlier versions of the legendarium, Finrod had a wife named Mare who bore him a son, Gil-galad. This was changed in later versions so that Finrod had no children and Gil-galad was the son of Orodreth, who was Finrod's nephew.
