Eärendur
Earendur was the tenth and last king of Arnor before Aragorn became king of the reunited kingdom. Earendur was born in year 640 of the Third Age as the son of King Elendur. Earendur was crowned king in year 777 after the death of his father. In 861, Earendur died and his sons fought over the throne. His sons divided Arnor up into three sections. The new sections were called Arthedain, Cardolan, and Rhudaur, but the line of Isildur continued through the kings of Arthedain. His son Amlaith became the first King of Arthedain.
Names & Meanings
The name Eärendur means "servant of the Sea" in Quenya. It contains the elements Eär meaning "sea" and ndur, which is a verb meaning "to serve."
