Finduilas
Wife of the Steward Denethor II of Gondor and the sister of Prince Imrahil. Finduilas was born in Dol Amroth in the year 2950 of the Third Age. She was the second daughter of Prince Adrahil II, with and older sister named Ivriniel. Finduilas had two sons with Denethor: Boromir and Faramir. Finduilas was known for her gentle kindness.
In year 2976 of the Third Age, Finduilas was married to Denethor, son of the Steward Ecthelion II. In 2978, Finduilas gave birth to Boromir, and in 2983 she had Faramir. After the birth of her second son, Finduilas weakened. She still tried her best to raise him, for Denethor only valued his first son Boromir.
When Ecthelion II died in 2984 and Denethor became steward, Finduilas continued to weaken. The shadow of Mordor had extended its evil to Gondor. She missed the sea more and more as the years passed and her health dwindled. In 2988, Finduilas died at the age of thirty-eight, a very young age for one of the Dunedain.
Denethor's sanity became unstable after Finduilas's death, and he lived a depressing life until his suicide in 3019.

Names & Meanings
Finduilas is quite possibly of Telerian origin, but its meaning is unknown. The part fin means "golden hair" and the las means "leaf," so Finduilas could possibly tranlate as "golden haired leaf." Finduilas was also the name of an Elf of the First Age.
