Hirluin
Lord of Green Hills. Hirluin lived at the time of the War of the Ring in the late Third Age. He led an army of 300 green-clad men from the Green Hills to help defend Minas Tirith during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields on March 15 of 3019.
Hirluin immediately rushed to aid Eomer and the Rohirrim, who were being rapidly surrounded by the enemy. In this process, Hirluin was slain. His name was remembered in Rohirrim song.

Names & Meanings
Hirluin is a a name of unknown meaning, and its origin is disputed. The first syllable, hîr, means "lord" in Quenya. The second syllable, luin, translates as "blue" from Sindarin, but it may have been a reference to the word "fair" in Doriathrin.
