Turgon
Born in year 2855 of the Third Age, Turgon became the twenty-fourth ruling-Steward of Gondor. He was the son of the Steward Turin II. Turgon became Steward after his father's death in 2914.
In 2951, Sauron openly declared himself to be living in Mordor, which posed a great threat to the future of Gondor. Sauron was rebuilding the dark tower of Barad-dur. Turgon died in the year 2953 and was succeeded by his son Ecthelion II as Steward.

Names & Meanings
The name Turgon is Sindarin for the Quenya word Turukáno, meaning something along the lines of "ruling lord." Turgon was undoubtedly named after Turgon of the Noldor in the First Age.
