Andwise Roper
Brother of Hamfast "Gaffer" Gamgee; uncle of Sam Gamgee. Andwise was born in 2923 of the Third Age. He was the eldest son of Hobson Gamgee. Andwise Gamgee was nicknamed "Andy." Andwise had a younger brother Hamfast, who was the father of Sam. He also had two other siblings named May and Halfred of Overhill.
Andwise became a rope-maker like his father. He moved to the village of Tighfield, where there was a rope-yard known as the rope-walk. In 2961, Andwise had a son named Anson. Both Sam and Hamson Gamgee learned a great deal about rope making from Andy. Andwise's date of death is not known.
