Hobson Gamgee
Father of Hamfast "Gaffer" Gamgee; grandfather of Sam Gamgee. Hobson Gamgee was born in year 2885 of the Third Age. He was the son of Hob and Rowan Gammidge. Hobson became a rope-maker, and he moved to Tighfield where he had a rope-making yard known as a rope-walk.
Hobson Gamgee had three children: Andwise Roper, Hamfast "Gaffer" Gamgee, May, and Halfred. Hobson's son Andwise became a rope-maker with his father. Hobson died in 2984 of the Third Age.

Names & Meanings
Hobson is used to indicate that Hobson was the son of Hob. Because of his profession, Hobson Gamgee was nicknamed Roper Gamgee.
