Aravir
Born in the year 2156 of the Third Age, Aravir became the third Chieftain of the Dunedain. Aravir was the son of Chieftain Aranuir. Aravir lived in Rivendell until his father's death in 2247. Aravir was Chieftain of the Dunedain until his own death in year 2319, when he was succeeded by his son Aragorn I.
Names & Meanings
The meaning of the name Aravir is unknown. Though the first element, ara, is clearly meant to mean "king" in Sindarin, the second element, vir, has an unknown meaning.
