Beleth
Daughter of Bregolas; sister of Baragund and Belegund. Beleth was born in year 417 of the First Age. Beleth had two brothers: Baragund and Belegund. She was of the House of Beor. During the Battle of Sudden Flame in 455, Beleth's father Bregolas died and her uncle Barahir became Lord of the House of Beor.
Erendis, the wife of the ruler Tar-Aldarion of Numenor, was known to have been a descendant of Beleth, though this would have been through many generations because Beleth was a member of the Edain who lived in the middle of the First Age and Erendis was a noblewoman of Numenor who was not born until the year 711 of the Second Age.

Names & Meanings
The meaning of Beleth is unknown, but it is known to contain the feminin suffix eth. Beleth's name was mispelled Bereth by J.R.R. in a part of the The Unfinished Tales, but in The History of Middle-earth, Volume XI, The War of the Jewels: "The Later Quenta Silmarillion," page 232, Christopher Tolkien notes that this was a mistake.
