Dáin I
Born in 2440 of the Third Age, Dain I became King of Durin's Folk. Dain I was the eldest son of King Nain II. Dain had a younger brother named Borin as well as three sons: Thror, Fror, and Gror. Dain I ruled the Grey Mountains, which housed a large population of Dwarves of Durin's Folk. The Grey Mountains were located near the Northern Waste. Dain I and his second son Fror were both killed by a Cold-drake, a dragon of the Northern Waste, in 2589. Thror evacuated to the Lonely Mountain and Gror evacuated to the Iron Hills after their father and brother's deaths.
Names & Meanings
Dáin was the name of a Dwarf in the Old Norse poem Voluspa. There was a later King of Durin's Folk named Dáin II Ironfoot.
