Gorgol
Gorgol was an Orc-chieftain who lived during the First Age. Gorgol "the Butcher" was under the service of Morgoth. In circa 460 of the First Age, Gorgol led an a group of Orcs to hunt down and kill the ten members of Barahir's outlaw band who had escaped the Battle of Sudden Flame. Gorgol located the outlaw band on the shores of Tarn Aeluin and all but Barahir's son Beren were slain. Gorgol took many of the outlaw band's belongings as well, including the Ring of Barahir.
Beren was out on an errand at the time of the massacre, and when he returned he was devastated. Beren was also enraged that the Orcs had taken his father's ring, and he hunted Gorgol down and killed him in order to retrieve it.

The meaning of the name Gorgol is not known. He was also called Gorgol the Butcher.
