Thorin I
Born in 2035 of the Third Age, Thorin I was the son of King Thrain I. Thorin I was of the Line of Durin. In 2190, Thrain I died and Thorin I was named King of Durin's Folk. In 2210, Thorin I and his people settled in the Grey Mountains which were full of gold and other valuable minerals. Thorin I had a son named Gloin I. Thorin I died in 2289 and his son Gloin succeeded him as King.
Names & Meanings
The name Thorin is of Old Norse origin. It means "daring" from thora meaning "to dare." There were two later Dwarves named Thorin: Thorin II Oakenshield as well as Thorin III Stonehelm.
