Baldor
Original heir to the throne of Rohan; first son of King Brego. Baldor was the elder brother of Aldor the Old, who became the third king of Rohan. He also had another younger brother named Eofor. Baldor was born sometime before the year 2544 of the Third Age, as that was Aldor's year of birth.
Baldor and his father were exploring the outskirts of Rohan in 2569. They stumbled upon the Paths of the Dead. They were met by an old man who said that they were never to pass, as that area was for the Dead and only the Dead. Stumped by the old man's message, Baldor became curious.
Baldor announced to the kingdom of Rohan that in spite of the old man's warning he was going down the Paths of the Dead. Baldor did so in 2570 and was never seen again. As it happened, the Dead had followed Baldor to an evil temple where they broke off his legs and left him to die.
Baldor's father Brego died soon after of grief and Aldor inherited the throne.

Names & Meanings
The meaning of Baldor is not certain. It contains the element aldor, which comes from the Old English ealdor, meaning "Prince" or "Lord." Of course, this is also seen in Baldor's brother's name Aldor.
