Cotman
Grandfather of Farmer Tolman Cotton. Cotman was born in 2860 of the Third Age. He was the son of Cottar. Cotman had a younger brother named Carl. Cotman married Rose and they had a son named Holman Cotton. Holman was Tolman's father and Rosie Cotton's grandfather.
Names & Meanings
Cotman means "cottager." His name in traditional Hobbitish was Hlothram. Hobbitish was the language of Hobbits before they adopted Westron, the Common Speech. Cotman probably spoke Hobbitish on a regular basis, though his genration would probably have been the last to do so.
