Éomund
Eomund was the father of Eomer and Eowyn and the brother-in-law of King Theoden of Rohan. He also became the Lord of Aldburg and a Marshal of the Mark.
Eomund married Theodwyn, sister of King Theoden, in year 2989 of the Third Age. The couple soon had two children: Eomer and Eowyn, who both played major roles in the events of the War of the Ring that were to come.
Eomund and a company of riders followed a group of Orcs into the hills of the Emyn Muil in year 3002 of the Third Age. He and his riders were all slain, and his wife Theodwyn died soon after. Eomer and Eowyn were sent to be raised by Thoenden.

Names & Meanings
The name Éomund is an Old English phrase. It is composed of eoh, meaning "war-horse" and mund meaning "protector." There was also a captain of the Eotheod named Eomund.
