Gilwen
Aunt of Beren Erchamion. Gilwen was born in year 397 of the First Age. She was the daughter of Bregor. Gilwen was the older sister of Barahir, who became the father of Beren. She had an older brother named Bregolas and two older sisters named Bregil and Hirwen. Their family lived in Ladros in Dorthonion.
In 455, Morgoth attacked Dorthonion in the Battle of Sudden Flame. In 456, the women and children of the Edain were evacuated, led by Emeldir, but it is unknown what ultimately became of Gilwen.

Names & Meanings
Gilwen is Sindarin for "star maiden." It derives from gil meaning "star" and the ending wen, which means "maiden."
