Ingold
Ingold in the New Line film
Soldier of Gondor during the War of the Ring. Ingold came from Minas Tirith.
In March of 3019 of the Third Age, Ingold was positioned on a road between Minas Tirith and Rohan. He saw Gandalf and Pippin Took and let them pass into Gondor.
Several days later, Ingold witnessed Sauron's forces advancing upon Gondor from Mordor. He retreated to Minas Tirith to report this depressing news, which was thought to mean that Rohan could not come to their aid. However, the Rohirrim ended up taking secret paths through Druadan Forest.
It is unknown what became of Ingold after the War of the Ring.

Names & Meanings
The name Ingold comes from Ingoldo, or i Ñoldo, which was one of Finrod's names in the First Age. The name was passed down through Numenor and was used in Gondor, which eliminated the last element, o, due to Westron pronunciations. It is unknown what the actual meaning of the name is.
