Aravorn
Aravorn was the ninth Chieftain of the Dunedain. He was born in year 2497 of the Third Age. Aravorn was the son of Chieftain Aragost. As a young person, Aravorn lived with Elrond in Rivendell. When Aragost died in 2588, Aravorn returned to Arnor to become Chieftain. Aravorn ruled until his death in year 2654 and was then succeeded by his son Arahad II as Chieftain.
Names & Meanings
The name Aravorn is of Sindarin origin, but its meaning is unclear. The element ara clearly means "king," as was common among the Dunedain royalty. However, the meaning of the element vorn is not known.
