Arveleg I
Born in the year 1309 of the Third Age, Arveleg I became the eighth king of Arthedain. He was the son of King Argeleb I. In 1356, Arveleg's father was killed by the combined forces of Angmar and Rhudaur serving Witch-King. Arveleg I inherited the throne of Arthedain after his father's death.
Arveleg I's first action as king was to gather the armies of Arthedain together. He was soon allied with the Elves of Lindon and the men of another Dunedain kingdom called Cardolan. These combined forces drove the Witch-King's out of Arthedain, but the Witch-King himself was not defeated. For many years, Arveleg managed to keep his borders safe as far as the Weather Hills and the Hoarwell.
In 1409, the Witch-King renewed his attack on Arthedain and Cardolan. He put the Tower of Amon Sul under siege and eventually destroyed it. He also sieged Weathertop, causing the Dunedain to retreat to their capital city of Fornost. But Arveleg I did not mage to escape; he was killed in the initial assault of the Tower of Amon Sul. However, his teenaged son Araphor was able to hold the defenses of Fornost with the an allegiance of Elves from Lindon led by Cirdan. Later that year, Araphor succeeded his father as king of Arthedain.
