Beren
Beren became the nineteenth ruling-Steward of Gondor. He was born in year 2655 of the Third Age. Beren was the son of Egalmoth. When Egalmoth died in 2743, Beren succeeded him as Steward. In the year 2758, Gondor was attacked by three fleets of the Haradrim and the Corsairs of Umbar. They came to Gondor from the southwest as far as the River Isen. Beren sent his son Beregond to drive out the enemy forces. His son was successful.
Meanwhile, during King Frealeaf's reign in Rohan, it was attacked by a force of Wildmen from Dunland. The king of Rohan and his forces drove the Dunlendings out with the aid of Beren's son Beregond. Beren granted Isengard to the Wizard Saruman, whom he hoped would protect Rohan from future invasions.
Beren died in 2763 and was succeeded by Beregond as Steward.
