Borlas
Borlas was the youngest son of Beregond, a Guard of the Citadel during the War of the Ring. Borlas was born sometime after the year 3009 of the Third Age, the year of his older brother Bergil's birth. He grew to live in Pen-arduin near Emyn Arnen.
Sometime in the early Fourth Age, Borlas caught a young man named Saelon stealing an apple from his garden. He reprimanded Saelon, but nevertheless took him in to live with him. Years later, Borlas learned from Saelon of the growing shadow amongst Men and the growing fear of secret cults forming to worship old evil powers. An example of this was when Saelon suspected something evil had happened to a ship that was lost at sea.
Boralas died sometime after the year 120 of the Fourth Age.

Names & Meanings
Borlas is of Elvish origins, possibly Quenya. It likely means "enduring joy." In an early version of the legendarium, Borlas was the name of a son of Bór, but this was changed to Borlad.
