Morwen Steelsheen
Mother of King Theoden of Rohan. Morwen was born in the year 2922 of the Third Age. Her father was related to the great princes of Dol Amroth, making Morwen herself of Numenorean descent. Her family came from Belfalas in Gondor.
Morwen's family relocated to the vales of Lossarnach. There she met Thengel, a king of Rohan seventeen years her senior, but nevertheless a great and admirable man. In 2943, Morwen and Thengel were married and moved to Rohan where Morwen would be queen alongside her new husband.
The people of Rohan came to like Morwen, and she was called Steelsheen because of her notable grace. She also had beautiful dark hair. Morwen was considerably taller than the Rohirrim due to her Numenorean heritage, a trait that was said to be inherited by a number of her descendants including Eomer.
Morwen and Thengel had a son named Theoden, who became Thengel's heir. They also had a daughter named Theodwyn, as well as another daughter with an unknown name.
Though Thengel died in 2980, it can be assumed that Morwen outlived her husband. The people of Gondor tended to lead longer lives than the Rohirrim, particularly the Gondorians of Numenorean descent. Despite this, Morwen Steelsheen's date of death is not known.
