Arathorn I
Born in the year 2693 of the Third Age, Arathorn I became the twelfth Chieftain of the Dunedain. Arathorn was the son of Chieftain Arassuil. Arathorn I lived with Elrond in Rivendell until his father's death in year 2784. Arathorn I ruled until his death in 2848 and was succeeded by his son Argonui as Chieftain.
Notice: It is not known what caused the death of Arathorn I, but in The Lord or the Rings, Appendix A: "The Northern Line - Heirs of Isildur" his name is marked with a knife. This usually indicates a premature death caused by violence, but nowhere are the circumstances of his death explained or recorded.
