Eärendil
Grandson of Meneldil and great-grandson of Anarion, Earendil became the fifth King of Gondor. He was born in year 48 of the Third Age. His father, Cemendur, died in year 238 and Earendil was crowned king. His son Anardil inherited the throne after Earendil's death in year 324.
Names & Meanings
Eärendil means "Sea lover" in Quenya. It is derived from eär meaning "sea" and ndil meaning "love of" of "devoted to." Earendil was the name of an Elf mariner of the First Age who was the father of Elrond.
