Fastred Fairbairn
Husband to Elanor Gamgee; son-in-law of Samwise Gamgee. Fastred came from Greenholm in the Shire where he resided in the Far Downs. He married Elanor Gamgee in year 30 of the Fourth Age. They moved to the Undertowers in the Tower Hills in Westmarch and Fastred became Warden of the Westmarch.
Fastred and Elanor had two children: Elfstan born in 33 and Firiel born at a time unknown. Fasterd's date of death is not known; his son Elfstan probably succeeded him as Warden of the Westmarch.

Names & Meaings
The name Fastred comes from fæstræd, the Anglo Saxon word for "steadfast." Fastred was also the name of a Rider of Rohan as well as the son of King Folcwine of Rohan.
